FAQ’S about the position:

This position requires candidates must obtain their own transportation, pass a background check and be available from 2:00 - 6:00pm at least 2-3 times a week Monday-Friday.

This position is not teaching kids on the pottery wheel. This is a hand-building workshop for kids grades K-6th.

About us:
Jimmy Potters Workshop is the largest provider of after-school pottery programs in Northern Virginia, Maryland and Washington, DC.

We work with more than 1,500 elementary school children every week. We are searching for artisitic, energetic and capable Art Instructors that want to make a difference in the lives of elementary school children grade K-6th.

We are looking for an individual who loves working with Art, loves working with children (ages 5-11) and is interested in working during "after-school" hours from Monday-Friday at least 1-2 times a week.

You don't need to have experience with ceramics, but of course you can be! You will receive thorough training on how to use our 8 week curriculum to teach a pottery class.

Compensation is competitive. Instructor pay will be based on candidates Art and teaching experience.

Nice to have's:
*Knowledge of creating any Art medium ( ie knitting, sculpture, painting, pottery)
*Experience with teaching elementary-age children
*Must be able to pass a background check
*Must be available at least 3 weekdays during the school year from 2:00 pm 6:00 pm
*Have a reliable vehicle for transportation
*Ability to lift up to 10 lbs of teaching equipment

Instructor Responsibilities:
*Manage a classroom of 9-15 students to grades K-6th
*Implement our ceramic curriculum and teach of the basic fundamentals of pottery making (pinch pot, slipping , and glazing etc.,)
*Promote good a positive enronment among students
*Supervise child/ parent pickup
